The Verdon cliffs have been inhabited since the dawn of humanity. Today the most beautiful canyon in Europe [1] [2] [3] is part of the Verdon Regional Natural Park, a meeting point between Upper and Lower Provence with the Alpilles, Valensole plateau, Verdon canyon and lakes : Castillon and Chaudanne lakes in the upper course of the river, Sainte-Croix created in 1975 [4] [5] [6], see Aiguines [7] [8] and Les Salles sur Verson [9], Quinson and Esparron. South of beautiful Manosque, the emerald torrent born at 2500 meters in the heart of the Alps, flows into the Durance.
Each climbing site [10] of the Verdon offers suitable zones for beginners and experienced climbers. This is a worldwide famous place for climbing, the cliffs of Escales are among the most renowned (see : Gorges du Verdon, Galetas and Point Sublime).
