Paris, sculptures on Le Pont des Arts

Man, Ousmane Sow, Pont des Arts, 1999

Paris, March to June 1999, after Dakar, Paris welcomes sculptures on "le Pont des Arts". Elegant link between the Institut de France and Le Louvre, the Passerelle des Arts is an open-air exhibition place for some of the sculptures [1] of Ousmane Sow, a Senegalese artist. Slightly little taller than man size, his figures impress by their realism and humanity. Crossing the Seine [2] [3] among these sculptures (scenes of everyday life or of the Battle of Little Big Horn [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]) turns into an initiatory way than makes emotions more acute.

In 1876, the Battle of Little Big Horn took place in Montana between Sioux and Cheyennes (headed by Two Moon, Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull) and the troops of General Custer. Custer was killed along with his cavalry.
